Skinner Box

If somebody could direct me to some XMMS or Mplayer skins that don’t make me want to shiv my eyes out with a piece of rusted rebar, I’d appreciate it.

If you could track down the person responsible for the whole idea of “skinning” and break all the small bones in their hands, that would be even better.


  1. Aren’t old WinAmp skins compatible? (I seem to remember this, somehow.) If I’m not totally wrong – which I very well could be – then I’d recommend looking at

  2. That’s nice, the most civilized one so far. What I’m really looking for, of course, is some new front-end that’s not skinned at all, just a bunch of boring old ui-consistent widgets.

    I mean, the fact that XMMS was designed to be skin-compatible with WinAmp is incredibly gross.

  3. Try chaos-XMMS. Its clean and readable, even in small mode. The XMMS website seems to be having problems, so I can’t give you a link.
