A Brief Note On Popular Culture

Filed under: analog — mhoye @ 7:56 pm

Dear mediocre artists of the present-

Please stop recording covers of inoffensive but commercially popular music by the mediocre artists of the past. Your cooperation in this matter is much appreciated.

Good Taste, and
Artistic Integrity

UPDATE: Dear mediocre moviemakers of the present…

  1. Neither taste, nor integrity, factor in really. Unless the envelope containing that letter also holds a big, fat check.

You’d be better off just mailing them poisonous spiders, or something.

  2. If I see that vile Pizza Hut commercial with Jessica Simpson in it again I think I might become violent.

  3. See, I don’t have cable TV, and while I don’t have too much chance to get smug and superior about it, this is one of those times I’m deeply grateful.

A bad cover, an airhead starlet and a fast food, all wrapped up in advertising. It’s hard to imagine how something could be more vile.
