On The Verge

Boo

Maya’s just on the verge of crawling. She’s got all the parts of crawling, she just hasn’t figured out how to put them together yet. I’m rooting for her.

“Come on, Maya, get there! Eye of the tiger, Maya! Eye of the tiger!”

“She doesn’t know what that means. I don’t know what that means.”

“Eye of the Tigger, Maya! Eye of the Tigger!”

“What?”

“Eye of the Tigger!”

“Leave her alone, you freak.”

The training montage is a sadly neglected period of early childhood development.

Our oldest didn’t crawl until after she learned to walk. She was always on the verge, but decided to skip it and wait for the strength to walk instead. Our second was crawling right away. Don’t be dismayed either way–they’ll be moving somehow, and you won’t be able to stop them when they do.
